The committee for cyclist safety is louder than ever these days, with more and more designers finding ways for us to ride bikes without dying. You better be hauling furniture or moving house to drive a car and not be judged by your eco-friends, because we are running out of excuses not to take our bicycles out to conquer small distances and daily commutes. A firm in Portland, Oregon has invented the Orp Smart Horn, which fights cars with its shrill noises of awareness and a beacon light brighter than the stars.

After washing my mugs (and I do this a lot due to my tea addiction) I can't wait to put them back in the cabinet with all their liquid-holding friends. However, sneaky drops of water remain on the rim and in the crevaces and this simply will not do. If this annoys you, hold on a second before calling your teacher from elementary school and telling her she lied about evaporation. Just get a Bevel Cup! It's the smartest mug you'll ever own.

Ever since Gene Kelly pulled his bed into the ceiling, kicked open his breakfast nook and sat down to paint in the opening scene of An American in Paris, I've dreamed of what I would do with a tiny living space. This micro-apartment in Montparnasse, Paris is only 130 square feet but not an inch of it is wasted. The entire complex is organized into modular storage compartments and even the bed disappears beneath the raised kitchen floor. In this apartment, there is a place for everything. Everything but a girlfriend, friends and family.

I only want the best for my Macbook Pro. This elegant new laptop stand, from the Dopludo Collective, is both cleverly designed and easy on the eyes. Use it as an ergonomic device while working, then simply tuck away your keyboard and mouse when its time for a Netflix. The tray behind can be used to store other things too, such as paper and a printer (minus the printer). After all, you spent so much money on your new laptop. Spend a little more and give it a nicer life.

Sometimes the key to a great design is just a little tweaking. This plate holder, which can also be used as a strainer, fruit bowl and more, was designed by Snezana Jeremic with the intention of streamlining a clutter-filled kitchen. The plate holder wears many hats and is completely durable. So smart, I'm mad that I didn't think of it.

From the creators of Dot:
What is it?
Dot is a stylish, durable and downright pocketable 360º (panoramic) lens attachment and app for the iPhone 4.
What does it do?
Dot lets your iPhone capture immersive, fully navigable, panoramic video in real-time - and share with friends on your phone, as well as on Facebook and Twitter, or streamed online using our awesome panoramic video web platform and player.
Cool, right?
We're excited too. Why? Because we're uber lazy, and we'd rather put down the camera and enjoy the party. We're making a bet you will too. (Not that we think you're lazy...)
But seriously, our secret beta testers have already had a lot of fun taking it to concerts, the park, on moped rides in Italy, and showing cramped apartments to mothers halfway around the world.
So?
Well, up until recently it took major moolah and hefty gear to make a decent panoramic video. Now all you need is your phone and the world around you.
