Picture: SOLENT/Vittoria Amati

British photographer Vittoria Amati accidentally turned one of her underwater photographs into a negative and was please with the transformation. She decided to do the same with her entire collection of marine life photographs shot in the waters of the Bunaken Marin Park, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The unusual photographs taken up to 30m below the surface reveal creatures such as coral, fish and crabs in stunning details. (Picture above, a star fish, Gomophia watsoni)

Inspired by calligraphy, imperfection and negative space, Maruyama freezes the elements mid-flight, giving these sculptures a freedom and purity reminiscent of clearest crystal.
