It's Official - Music Videos are the new Monet. Once a quick distraction via YouTube and now an art form recognized by museums - the music video has come a long way. This isn't to say that the average hip hop track of semi-naked dancing girls doing shots will be available for viewing on the big screen. On the contrary, the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York has selected some classic videos from over time to exhibit at "Spectacle." The show runs from April 3rd to June 16th. Here are just some delights you'll be able to see there.
Layers aren't just for Photoshop anymore. Japanese artist Nobuhiro Nakanishi creates panoramic landscapes on plexiglass acrylic, using a laser printer and infinite views. His drawings aim to change the way we percieve the world, if only for a minute, and to extend our limited eyesight, presenting solid matter that we experience with our whole body. The result is a sliced up, flowing vista, which I imagine can be appreciated much more in person. His exhibition of layered landscapes entitled "Time + Space" was featured at the Hildebrand Gallery in Geneva.

Renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has a long proven fascination with minimalism, colors and landscapes. Her "Obliteration Room" was an experiment to see how thousands of people would decorate a large white room. The result? A vista of colorful dots, an exhibition of randomness, and an unforgettable scene. The installation was featured as part of her "Look Now, See Forever" show at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art earlier this year.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York asked its visitors to share their visiting experiences.
Visitors shared their stories on a wall of messages using text and drawings to illustrate what they saw and felt during their visit to MoMA.
The one above from a little girl named "Annabelle" is my favorite!
