Victor Wooten (born September 11, 1964) is an American bass player, composer, author and producer. He is best known for playing bass in the bluegrass band Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. He is widely considered one of the world's premiere contemporary bassists. He has received five Grammy awards.

Wooten was born in a town outside of Boise, Idaho to Dorothy and Pete Wooten, who were in the military. His family moved to Hawaii and his brother began to teach him to play bass when he was just two years old. By the time he was six, he was performing with his brothers. They called themselves The Wooten Brothers Family Band. He was very close with his family and his parents booked all of their performances. Wooten said of the experience, ""My brothers, who were already playing music, knew they needed a bass player to complete the family band. Regi started teaching me as soon as I could sit up straight, and my parents let him do it."

In 1981, his older brother recommended him for a job as a bluegrass fiddle player despite the fact that he did not play the fiddle. He practiced with a violin from his high school orchestra teacher. Soon, he was able to play in the Good Time Country Show in Williamsburg, Virginia.

He learned of the banjo player Béla Fleck when a friend commented that he had a similar way of playing the banjo when he picked it up for one of the first times. He connected with Fleck in 1987 and the two shared musical ideas. By 1988, they formed Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.

Not long after forming the Flecktones, Wooten released his own solo album, A Show of Hands (1996).

Young bassists looking to learn Wooten's unique style became the impetus for a Bass and Nature camp, now in its thirteenth year. The camp now takes place in Wooten Woods, along the Duck River in Nashville Tennessee.

Wooten has performed and/or recorded with many great musicians including Chick Corea, The Dave Matthews Band, Bootsy Collins, Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Prince, India Arie, Keb Mo, Dennis Chambers, Susan Tedeschi, Gov't Mule, Bruce Hornsby, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Frank Gambale.

Wooten has recorded dozens of albums, many of which were award-winning Flecktones albums.

In 2011, Wooten formed his own record label, Vix Records.
