Happy Birthday John Malkovich!

John Malkovich (December 9, 1953) is an American actor, director, and producer who has appeared in over 70 films, including Dangerous Liaisons and the mind-bending comedy– drama, Being John Malkovich, in which a mousy puppeteer finds a portal near the New Jersey Turnpike that leads into the mind of John Malkovich. The actor studied theatre at Illinois State University, and is known for a certain magnetic acting style that makes him both fearsome and a joy to watch.

Malkovich has received Academy Award nominations for his roles in Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire. He also appeared in Con Air, Of Mice and Men, and played Biff in Death of A Salesman on Broadway, alongside Dustin Hoffman. He won an Emmy for the role when it was later adapted for television.

Malkovitch has also produced several films, including Juno, Ghost World and most recently, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, based on the novel by Stephen Chbosky.

Charlie Kauffman, who wrote Being John Malkovich, said that the idea for the story originated as "a story about a man who falls in love with someone who is not his wife". Of course, the film grew into a cautionary tale about why we should all love and fear John Malkovich. The actor has also had a few creepy turns on SNL, including an episode where he combined his slightly terrifying command of the stage with his love of Christmas.
