Eugene Levy (December 17, 1946) is a Canadian actor and writer who is known for his many comedic roles. Levy is an alumnus of the The Second City, Toronto, as well as the sketch comedy series, Second City Television. Levy frequently collaborates with fellow screenwriter and comedian Christopher Guest, and is frequently seen in Guest's mockumentary films, including Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. The actor turns 66 today.

earlWhile a cast member on Second City Television, Levy's many roles included Earl Camembert (above), a fumbling news anchor for "SCTV News" and many celebrity impersonations, including Ricardo Montalban, Alex Trebek, Muammar al-Gaddafi, Ernest Borgnine, Neil Sedaka, and Howard McNear as "Floyd the Barber." Original characters include union patriarch Sam Dithers, car salesman Al Peck, and Phil the Garment King (also of Phil's Nails).

Levy is the only actor to have appeared in all eight of the American Pie films, as Noah Levenstein, the father of Jason Biggs' character, Jim Levenstein. Who among us can forget the fateful day when we watched Mr. Levenstein try to guide his son through the throes of puberty by equating third base to "warm apple pie"?

Levy, along with Christopher Guest and Michael McKean, was awarded the 2003 Grammy Award for "Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media" for the title song from A Mighty Wind.

In 2008, Levy was presented with the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards (GGPAA), a lifetime achievement award considered Canada's "most prestigious artistic honour." In 2011, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada "for his contributions as a comic actor and writer, and for his dedication to charitable causes."
