Each year, Nordic regions like Finland, Russia, and even Alaska participate in the reindeer races, in which reindeer pull a rider through the snow. Perhaps their practicing in case they ever get selected for a certain fateful delivery job, but you won't believe how adorable these animals are as they hoof it through the snow. Each region approaches the races slightly differently, but the reindeer is so important to the communities of Naryan-Mar, Russia, that the 2014 Olympic flame came through the area on a reindeer sled. Also included is some video footage from each region so you can get a sense of the excitement.
