'Notes for an Epilogue' is the ongoing photography series by Tamas Dezso, in which the photography records Romania as it transitions between two cultural eras, and between communism and a central union. In addition to political and societal changes that are happening gradually, the physical landscape of the country, and its peasant class, are changing to move into modernity. Dezso notes that the inevitable decay of the 'old' country is absolutely necessary for the ushering in of a modern Romania:
"One year ago, I began photographing the scenes of a world irreversibly decaying, the transformation of a Balkan country surviving the region's hardest dictatorship. When capturing the still recordable milieu I am examining the parallel of a general tendency and personal stories: as resilient humanity condensing into symbolic destinies takes shape in the face of mortality."
