Nothing in your life will ever be as cool as this lavish dinner party thrown in elaborate surrealist style, and hosted by the prominent French socialite Marie-Hélène de Rothschild (and yes of course I'm talking about the Rothschilds), and her friend Salvador Dali. The affair took place on the evening of December 12, 1972 at the Rothschilds' Château de Ferrières, which was lit orange to look like it was on fire. The dress code was 'Black tie, long dresses, and Surrealist heads,' and all the waitstaff were dressed as cats. The guest list included European and Hollywood royalty (including Audrey Hepburn!) and other beautiful members of international high society. Note: some of these pictures are a little terrifying, which I love.
