Photographer Peter Menzel traveled all over the world and photographed a week's worth of groceries for families of different sizes in different countries. It's a truly fascinating look at how different cultures use their resources, as well as each culture's committment to healthy eating. In his book, Hungry Planet, Menzel cataloged thirty families from different countries by their food purchases in USD and some details about their purchases. Menzel's photography subjects covered families from a range of socio-economic positions, so it's rather important to note that each family doesn't represent any particular 'average' of consumption.
