If all the objects in your house were alive, and had their own social system complete with a heirarchy, these bookends would be among the elite. Because they're smarter than your desk, your sofa and your kitchen cabinets. Why? Because they're invisible! How many other useful (or -less) ornaments in your apartment provide full function while hiding form? Yeah, that's what I thought.
The Invisible Bookend was created by designer Paul Cocksedge of London.
"I wanted to discover if other people would enjoy as much as I do seeing books displayed without any other object to distract attention from them. This is a design which is not about appearance, only function. That's the beauty of it."
Among his other work are more eclectic solutions to book presentation, and his larger scale art includes awe-inspiring installations.
